10 weeks of Creating Art
Thursday afternoon – 3 – 5 pm - starting 2 May 2019
Each week we will complete a small project whilst looking at a little of the history behind each of the medium used. We will also consider other artists and how they have used these in the expression of their works and the possible underlying meanings behind them. Children will then be encouraged to consider their own interpretation of this and have the freedom to experiment and explore in their own creating and learning.

Due to popular demand, the children's Introduction to Drawing class will again be held during Term Two. In addition, a Creating Art class will run each Thursday, which will involve an exciting term exploring different art medium including; collage, pottery, paper mache, wallpaper beads, drawing and painting.
Term 1 - 2019 . Introduction to Drawing - ( history and the elements of art )
Children's classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 3.00pm to 5.00pm - (during standard school term dates)
The Introduction to Drawing Class will be a fun-filled time where we will look at the following;
- What is art?
- The elements of art; line, shape, colour, texture, space, value/tone, form or volume and putting these all together. We will look at different Artists and how they used these elements in the expression of their works.
- We will also cover some of the history of art as it developed in New Zealand, from the first rock paintings, to the arrival of explorers and how they interpreted what they saw, (as there were no cameras at this time), looking at observational drawing which will be the main focus of the term.
- Underpinning all of this, is the opportunity to consider these elements and express them artistically as an individual, building on the experience of what has been presented.
- All materials for this class are covered in the cost of $150 per term.
